1.Formula : S + be + (a) + N (SbeN)
Subject + Verb to be + (a) + Noun

Example 1    : I (subject) am (verb to be) a student (singular noun).

Example 2    : He(subject) is (verb to be) a tailor (singular noun).

Example 3    : They (subject) are (verb to be) workers (plural noun).

Example 4    : We(subject) are (verb to be) students (singular noun).


2.Formula : S + be + Adj (SbeA)

Subject + Verb to be + Adjective

Example 1    : Tom (subject) is (verb to be) smart (adjective).

Example 2    : Sally (subject) is (verb to be) pretty (adjective).

Example 3    : They (subject) are (verb to be) tired (adjective).

Example 4    : We(subject) are (verb to be) excited (adjective).


3.Formula : S + be + (a/an)+Adj+N (SbeAN)

Subject + Verb to be + Adjective + Noun

Example 1    : We (subject) are (verb to be) happy (adjective) students (noun).

Example 2    : Sally (subject) is (verb to be) an honest (adjective) student (noun).

4.Formula : S + be + (a/an/the)+ Adj+ N + PP

Subject + Verb to be + (Article) + Adjective + 

Noun + Prepositional Phrase

Example 1    : There(subject) are (verb to be) beautiful (adjective) swans (noun) in the lake (PP).

Example 2    : Sally (subject) is(verb to be) the best (Adjective) student (Noun) in the class.(PP)

Example 3    : They (subject) are (verb to be) hardworking (adjective) workers (noun) on the ship. (PP)

Example 4    : There (subject) is (verb to be) a cute (adjective) cat (noun) in the room. (PP)


5.Formula : S + V + be + (a/an/the)+ (Adj)+ (N) + PP

Subject + Verb +Verb to be + (Article) + (Adjective) + (Noun) + Prepositional Phrase

Example 1    : The teacher(subject) writes (verb) sentences (noun) on the white board (PP).

Example 2    : Jane (subject) plays(verb) the piano (noun) in the living room.(PP)

Example 3    : We (subject) eat (verb) lunch (noun) in the kitchen. (PP)

Example 4    : We (subject) eat (verb) tasty (adjective) lunch (noun) in the kitchen. (PP)

Example 5    : She (subject) wears (verb) a (article) beautiful (adjective) dress (noun) for work everyday. (PP)
