I was wondering, what if the question ask for a open ended question? Like the one with the question mark '?' at the last picture of the question. Can we just write anything of how we imagine the story would end? Thanks
ReplyDeleteHello Fara, thanks for asking this question.Usually there will be 4/6 pictures and the last pic will one marked with '?'.
ReplyDeleteTo answer this type of question :-
1. Read the question carefully and see what is required.
2.You need to look at the pictures carefully and understand the flow of the story.
3.Finally, end your story with a suitable and with an interesting ending.
I hope my explanation is satisfactory for you.
What if I write more than 270 words ? My marks will be deducted ?
ReplyDeleteHello Nurul, don't worry no marks will be deducted if you write more than 270 words.
ReplyDeletecan you help me? what is the example of the words, that i can use in the body paragraph of speech essay?
ReplyDeleteHi RH, it depends on the 'title' of the particular question. There is not much difference in the 'opening' and 'closing' a speech but for the body section - you need to see what is required of you.
ReplyDeleteWords can vary according to topics. Therefore, in order to write well, you need to spend time reading more English materials. All the best.
If you can give the topic, then I'll try to give you certain words which might come in handy...ok.
Hello Kopitiam, would like to ask if i write more than 60 words like example 62 or 65 words would it be fine for section C ?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, For section C [Summary] only 60 words are required - anything more than that will not be counted in - marks will not be deducted if you write 62 or 65 words.
ReplyDeleteTherefore, keep your summary in the [60 words]limit, so as not to loose any of your points which you might have.
hello kopitiam,I'm quite weak in writing essays..can u give me some tips on writing essays? tq
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous[22/10] - To write a good essay needs a lot of practice.Reading good English materials like English novels, English Newspapers or even Readers Digest Magazines will help to boost up your writing skills. You also must do a lot of grammar practice.
Deletehi... for section A, what if i forgot to write the title for my essay (story kind of question), how many marks will be deducted?
ReplyDeleteHi Anon - for story type essays - A title is not needed. So, don't worry.
Deletethen, what if the instruction ask for student to give a suitable title for the story essay? and i forgot to give the essay a title? Will there be marks deducted?
DeleteIf you are required to give a suitable title then do so by all means. Yes, marks will be deducted but not so much, it's somewhere 1-2 marks only.
Deletewill there be any marks deducted if i have given a wrong usage of word in an essay..?
ReplyDeletefor example...the question asked for writing a speech...but i wrote a sentence (as my fellow opponents....)
So,the word opponent automatically changed the essay to a debate...
can i get a clear explanation...?
Yes, marks will be deducted depending on the way you wrote your essay. In your case - it can be considered as out of topic, if that's the case then you will lose a lot of marks.
DeleteI'm the same previous person who asked a question regarding the wrong usage of word (opponents)
ReplyDelete-The question asked for writing a speech....
I had only used the word (opponents)at the greeting part of a speech.
Example sentence : A very warm good morning to the headmaster, teachers and all my fellow opponents.
Otherwise i had brought up the essay in a speech form..for example
I've given the definition of the title of my speech and finally thanked the audience for lending the ears...
So,won't they just deduct the marks only for the word OPPONENTS as a wrong usage of word category...?
Hi, Sorry for the late reply, busy with my things. Now, I get a clearer picture about your situation. Don't worry-your essay won't be considered as out of topic. You will only be penalised for the word [opponents].
DeleteThank You So Much ! I really appreciate your blog..Thank you once again !!
ReplyDeleteHello kopitiam. I was wondering that can my mark will be deducted because my article essay doesn't have a title.
